Child Portraits in Coolidge Park

Sometimes kids can be SO hard to photograph… and then there’s Tiffany (name changed to protect the innocent – literally). She was a natural, just like her mom said. Since I tend to frighten small children I asked my younger sister, LJ, if she would come along and help “assist” with the little one. She did. And this turned out to be a very good decision because Tiffany was very shy around me. I have no idea why. But we ended up taking photos in Coolidge Park (Chattanooga, TN) for several hours. Tiffany’s mom was very happy with the photos we captured of her little star and I am fascinated by them as well.

Close-up

My favorite kind of shots are close up shots with a macro lens. This photo is of a talented violin player rosining up her bow before a rehearsal downtown Chattanooga, TN.

Portrait of Chattanooga grad

I was invited to a graduation ceremony at GPS in Chattanooga this past spring (2009). I snapped this photo of Robert, who’s sister was graduating, after the ceremony during the meet-and-greet hour. The reason his expression is so serious is because he didn’t know exactly what was going on when I took this. He was talking to a friend and when I yelled his name, he looked over and I got the picture from about 20 feet away while he still was focusing in and processing who called his name. The man out of focus in the background is his dad which I didn’t know at the time but turned out to be a cool part of the photo.
