Elaine & Brad | Engaged in Chattanooga
On Sunday November 13th I got together with Elaine and Brad for an engagement video shoot. (they are engaged to be married May 19, 2012). I wanted to get to know them a bit so I invited them over to the studio. After they told me a bit of the back story (they’ve been dating 10 years) I suggested we go up to the rooftop. I only had about 20 minutes with them as they were scheduled for an engagement photoshoot with Julia Robbs (www.juliaistropcool.blogspot.com) that afternoon. The video above was a short engagment / “save the date” video idea. It’s short and sweet. See more wedding cinema at www.timcofieldweddings.com
Chattanooga, Tennessee. Friday Oct 21, 2011.
Many orange people gathered in Miller Park…
My sister, Linda Jane and I went to the Chattanooga Pow Wow on April 10th and 11th, 2010. She took some of these photos and I took some. The drum (music) gave me chills. The dancing was beautiful. The people stunning. …I hope you enjoy this collection.
Ever since I drove by the old YMCA building on Mitchell Avenue 2 years ago, I have been dying to see what the inside looks like (as most of us have been). Well on Sunday (March 21) Mia and I were out for a stroll and found out that Southern Adventist University was shooting a short film called in the YMCA building called “Incarnate” (directed by Nick Livanos, shot by Bryan Fowler). So… a film grip handed us a flashlight and we began exploring as the sun went down (the photos were taken at 8pm so they are a little grainy + I didn’t have a tripod with me!) Inside, this building is horribly creepy and full of secrets. Outside on the balcony, it is enchanting and feels more like Italy than Tennessee. Apparently the building is being renovated/restored this week (March 22, 2010) to be a med spa and/or office space (correct me if you know otherwise). So… we only had a couple minutes to explore, THUS only a couple photos worth showing. But I hope you enjoy getting a peek inside…
This man is my granddaddy. He gave me a Minolta XE7 when I was in high school and showed me how to use it. I hope to one day be as good of a photographer as he.
I had the opportunity to shoot the cast and crew of The Steps web series in the summer of 2009.
I traveled from Chattanooga to small-town Missouri to take this “girl on a swing” shot. There’s something timeless about a girl, a boy, and a swing. On this warm summer evening I found this girl and boy taking turns pushing each other in a swing underneath a tall oak tree. It could have been an Abercrombie ad. They both are beautiful people and were a breeze to photograph.
This winter I had the privilege of shooting Jeana and Jonathan’s engagement photos in Chattanooga, TN. I had a lot of ideas (including night time shots by the Delta Queen) and they were up for anything! Mia Bergeron, a local painter, assisted me on the shoot and brought a lot to the session with her feminine presence. My favorite capture of Jeana and Jonathan was one where they are out of focus and tree limbs are in the foreground framing them. Creative photos are fun and more challenging than the typical “2-shot” of boy and girl holding hands (although those are cute as well). *There was no special affect or treatment in post that made there figures appear so tiny and “bird-like.” They look that way simply because of the short depth of field.
Photographer’s notes: F-stop (T-stop) 2.8 on a 28-75 mm lens. Canon Rebel XT.
